Joe...this is something to share with you...

Kathryn Bouchard is a young Canadian woman who embraced Islam in June 2008. What questions led her to Islam? How does she describe her emotions upon saying the Shahadah (the testimony of faith)? What was her first Ramadan like? Recently she sat down to share with us the story of her journey to Islam.

RI: In what way did embracing Islam change your life the most?

Bouchard: Islam has changed my life the most by giving me a sense of purpose and direction. It is a very clear, concise religion that lets us know why we are here and how we are to behave.
It forces Muslims to always ask themselves if they are in line with what God would want and to be consistently thinking in an ethical manner. For example, we are guided with how to give charity, treat animals and interact with the less fortunate.
Islam also values family and proper conduct. I have tried to be even more aware of how I interact with my immediate family to represent the religion correctly. This also is applicable to my behavior at work and in social interactions.
My daily life has been affected, as I no longer drink alcohol or eat pork and I perform the five daily prayers.

RI: What is it that you would most like to tell non-Muslims about Islam?

Bouchard: I think the biggest thing is more what we have in common, than what is different. What is portrayed in the media is most definitely not Islam. When you see violence against civilians or other Muslims, this is not what Islam represents.
Islam focuses on the worship of one God, and this goes back to the teachings and practices of Abraham. There is great respect for Jesus and for all of the prophets, and it's really a very tolerant and peaceful religion.

Management By Getting Closed to People's Heart

The lesson taught in the management class long time ago keep daunting...the lecturer quoted from the management guru that "Management is an art of getting things done through people"...During that time I wonder how and why it is an art, soon I realized...

The first important art is getting closed to the heart of whom we are their boss...get to know them in person (their interest, their good and bad habits, their problems if any, their family and so on about them). The first touching of their heart (if it is impressive enough) would last longer in people's mind and would ease the whole commitment of getting things done through them. So...get closed and touch their heart sincerely, then just name duty they will fulfill it, insyaAllah it works.

Happy Ending...

My dear PGRs...
We have finished our 40-hours-class now and I should express my sincere gratitude and thankful to Allah that He has met us up in such a memorable and joyful knowledge seeking occassion. All of you are so special to me especially when all of you sang the "Selamat Hari Ibu" song during our small party...it was so touching and soothing. Thank you so much that all of you have made the sacrifice of your night time to come to my class without any complaints. I hope that not only language skill could be learned in my class but I hope all of you also have learned something along the process of attending my class...Best of Luck and May Allah bless us all the time.
Pictures: Were taken during the last class small party- Dib (spoon feeding me), Alya (Purple baju kurung-Care so much about her teacher), Adia, Siti Noraini, Wan Noraini, Nurul Fathin, Emiliana, Khairun, Amira and Farah, are all so lovely...

Of Why Islam Recognizes Archery

Of why Islam gives highly recognition to archery lies not only in its physical commitment but what is more important is it could train the the mind of archers to be perfectly focus. Good focus and the reshapping of one`s mind is considered vital in Islam as the followers are recommended to do things to the highest possible quality. When one's mind is at the state of focus, the mission to reach the top is already half completed.
