A Social Visit...

Another good pastime activity is a social visit. It is highly recommended to make a social visit to our friend's or relative's house because it could strengthening the ukhuwah (brotherhood). However in doing so there are certain adab/ettiquets to be observed before, during and after the social visit. Before making a social visit it is recommended to find a suitable time for the visit. Do not go during the time when our friends are supposed to be outside working or doing something important. When they are busy doing something else, they might not have enough time to entertain us in a proper way. If possible make an appointment with them so that both parties are comfortable being a guest as well as a host.

Once arrived and when we are outside the house, stand a bit left from the door and give salam to them. Do not stand right infront of the door as for them to really get ready to welcome us comfortably. Giving salam is a very good practice as it would become a prayer for our host. Satan will definitely run away if they hear the prayer. Thus, the visit would be a blessful one. Talk nicely and avoid gossipping or back bitting. Introduce our family members or our friends who accompany us for the visit. As for the hosts, the earlier we could prepare the food for the guests the better. Serve halal but nutritious food to our guests. It is better to eat and drink together with the guest as to make them feel comfortable.

Finally, if we are about to leave the hosts, again say salam and wish good bye to them. Ilaliqa' Maa salamah...until we meet again assalamualaikum.
